Frequently Asked Questions

What services does Carz Driving School offer?

Our Minnesota-based driving school offers a comprehensive range of instruction for teens and adults, including online classroom lessons, beginner’s courses, refresher courses, defensive driving, and specialized training for individuals with specific needs. Our experienced instructors provide personalized, one-on-one lessons.

What geographic area do you serve?

We provide lessons throughout the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area.

What can I expect at a lesson?

Online classroom lessons take place from the comfort of home — the student completes 30 hours of instruction and then receives their electronic “blue card” by email, which lets them schedule the permit/knowledge test at any DMV location. Behind-the-wheel lessons begin at the address you provide and last about two hours, using a Carz Driving School vehicle.

Who can enroll in the driving school?

Any student 14 or older may register for the online classroom lessons. Any student with a valid learner’s permit or driver’s license — regardless of age or experience — can enroll for behind-the-wheel lessons. We welcome first-time drivers, experienced drivers improving their skills, and individuals with special needs who require tailored instruction.

How do I schedule a driving lesson?

Once you’re registered and payment has been received, visit our scheduling page and choose an available date and time. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred slot.

How long is each lesson and how many do I need?

Students under 18 — Online Classroom: 30 hours completed from home, about one hour per lesson, up to 3 lessons a day (as few as 10 days). Once started, students have 60 days to finish all 30 lessons and then receive their Blue Card for the permit test.

Behind the Wheel: Each lesson is 2 hours. Students under 18 must complete 6 hours (3 lessons) with a licensed instructor before the license exam, spread out over the time they hold their permit.

Students over 18: Each lesson is 2 hours. Beginners may need several lessons; experienced drivers may need only a few to polish their skills.

What should I bring to my driving lesson?

Bring your valid learner’s permit or driver’s license, comfortable driving shoes, and any required eyewear.

Can I use my own vehicle for lessons?

No. Per state guidelines, all students use our licensed school vehicles, which are equipped with dual controls for safety and designed to ease the learning process.

What is the cancellation policy?

We require 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Without sufficient notice or for a no-show, a $75 cancellation fee applies and must be paid in full to reschedule. Exceptions may be made for emergencies at our discretion.

How do I pay for lessons?

Payment can be made online by credit card, Venmo, or cash. Cash payments are paid in full at the first lesson. We also offer a discount when booking multiple-lesson packages.

Do you offer test preparation?

Yes. We help students pass their road tests with confidence, covering vehicle control, road signs, and driving laws, plus tips and strategies for the exam.

Is your driving school certified and accredited?

Yes. Carz Driving School is fully licensed, insured, and bonded by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Our instructors undergo rigorous training and background checks.

Where will I meet for my driving lesson?

Carz Driving School conveniently picks up and drops off students at their own home.
